Recipe: Golden Milk Oats

A warming, hearty and energising breakfast, inspired by the turmeric latte.

The perfect balance of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats!

 

Serves 1

Total time: 20 minutes

Vegetarian, vegan (optional), dairy free (optional), refined sugar free, gluten free

 

Ingredients:

  • ⅔ cup (60g) oats (certified gluten free, if needed, or brown rice flakes)
  • 1 cup (250ml) milk of your choice (e.g. almond, coconut or reduced fat cow’s milk)
  • ½ ripe banana, mashed
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp cinnamon 
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1-2 tbsp plant based vanilla protein powder (optional)
  • 1 nectarine
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • ½ cup frozen berries

 

Method:

1. Bring oats, mashed banana and almond milk to boil in a pot and simmer, stirring occasionally for 15 minutes until creamy.

2. Stir in spices and optional protein powder, if using.

3. Spoon into a bowl and add toppings.

Serve!
