Crossing the line to race recovery

Print PDF
You've crossed the finish line, your heart is thumping, you're exhilarated but exhausted.

Smart recovery began the instant you finished the HBF Run for a Reason, Glow Women's Fitness Online director Michelle Hext said.

"You want to minimise the aches and pains that can be part of distance running by starting on your recovery immediately after the race," she said.

"Walking around slowly will also prevent fainting and blood pooling in the lower legs," she said.

Ms Hext advised participants in the Act-Belong-Commit 14km event to take in a sports recovery drink rather than just water while walking around.
